The Annual OwnerShips Show

...... is held at Braunston Marina (on the A45 just north of Daventry) over the first weekend of February, 2nd and 3rd in 2008, (10.00am to 4.00pm).

As in previous years, the Eighteenth Annual OwnerShips Show is both an indoor and an outdoor event.

The indoor show includes representations and exhibitors from all walks of waterways life - including Canal Restoration Societies, Traditional Rope makers, Traditional Lace Plate makers, and various other craft, Engines, Boating Hats, Clothes, and Furniture, and even Traditional Fudge.

The refreshments cafe inside the main marquee is open all day, alongside the bar, and in the evening you can enjoy a concert by musicians, followedby the Day Star Theatre.

The outdoor show includes a wide variety of private narrow boats for you to step aboard, hosted by a small army of existing owners within the scheme who are available to answer any questions. Please note that OwnerShips does not employ salesmen.

If you get completely bored you can enjoy a change of scenery on one of the (free) canal trips, also running all day.

The show reflects OwnerShips general working philosophy that wherever possible everybody wins! In the case of this (indoor and outdoor) show....

As far as the public is concerned..... the event provides an enjoyable day’s outing including the viewing of a multitude of different designs of boats and barges; (free) canal trips; exhibitors of various canal restoration projects up and down the system; an exuberance of canal related crafts (from traditional crocheting to decorative canalware); musical entertainment; demonstrations (eg. how to splice a rope or make a fender); refreshments all day; and so on - both indoors and out. Admission is free.

As far as the exhibitors are concerned..... the event provides an opportunity to promote their various causes and sell their wares, at zero cost (OwnerShips makes no charge to exhibitors).

As far as OwnerShips is concerned.....   the whole event serves to broaden public awareness of the scheme, and any additional business generated goes towards the cost of running the show.

As far as the waterways are concerned..... at previous shows, both BBCTV and ITV have covered the event for regional and national screening, which, in turn, helps to promote the waterways generally, and so on.
