Once you become an owner, the running costs for a Dutch barge are approximately £300.00 per week's holiday, regardless of the size of share taken. (Hire boats of this standard in the high season START at £1,000/wk!!)
And, yes, you need to take account of your
capital tied up in the cost of the share, but considering that OwnerShips
never has any trouble selling shares in the narrow boats in its UK scheme,
and that prices there have always been buoyant, i.e. the cost of an OwnerShips
share is invariably higher than the cost of a twelfth of the
value of the boat, any adjustment you make to the above figure is still
going to be considerably less than the cost of hiring in ANY location.
