Calcutt Boats

On the canal system Calcutt Boats is situated on the Grand Union Canal just off the shared section with the Oxford Canal near Napton Junction, very close to OwnerShips’ main home base at Blue Lias Marina, Stockton. To find it by road, assuming you are coming off the motorway network leave the M1 at Junction 16 and follow the A45 towards Weedon and Daventry. Follow the ring road around Daventry and leave it on the A425 towards Southam. After about 5 miles you will enter the outskirts of the village of Napton. Immediately you come to a cross-roads with a small petrol station on your right, turn right just after this petrol station. You will cross the canal over a bridge and then pass Napton Narrowboats. After about 500 yards you will see a small sign directing you to your right to Calcutt Boats. Follow the bumpy track to its end, through the gates and straight ahead to “reception”.

Your boat will normally be moored on the wharf which is just adjacent to the reception area and this is the point you should return it to at the end of your holiday. Turnaround services are located here, your boat should be reversed in.

All main services are available at the yard including pump-out, diesel, gas, coal etc. If you wish to have your boat cleaned internally at the end of your trip the charge is £30.00 including VAT and this must be booked with them before you set out.

The yard is owned by Roger Preen and his wife Rosemary and on arrival either he, Chris or Brian (the marina managers) are probably the best people to ask for. Apart from the hire fleet and large private marina they do boat building and engine building/rebuilding, indeed they do almost anything to do with boats.

The yard is open from 9.00 until 5.30 with a break for lunch between 1.00pm and 1.30pm. The main gate to the yard is locked outside of these times and therefore it is important you arrive at a time when they are open as you will not be able to gain access outside of these times.
