BLISWORTH TUNNELS BOATS
Blisworth is a small Northamptonshire village alongside the Grand Union canal just north of the Blisworth tunnel. The boatyard is located conveniently close to the centre of the village, just north of Bridge 51.
Blisworth is about three-quarters of a mile from the A43, about halfway between Northampton and Towcester.
o From the M1, leave at junction 15A and take the A43 towards Oxford. Blisworth is signposted on the left about 3 miles from the motorway.
o From the A5, take the A43 towards Northampton. Blisworth is signposted on the right about 3 miles from the Towcester roundabout.
You will arrive at a T-junction in Blisworth village, with a red-brick mill ahead of you and the canal bridge to your right. Turn left here; the boatyard is just past the mill on the right.
If you are coming by train, Northampton is the nearest station. Blisworth is
only 5 miles from Northampton, and taxis wait outside the station.
The boatyard is located at the old wharf on the offside of the canal, and is owned by the Clarke family. The contact telephone number is 01604 858868 (Mike or Jen), and the usual hours are 9.15am to 5.00pm in summer and 09.15 to dark in winter. When you arrive, report to reception, where you will be directed to the boats and advised where to park your car.
Diesel, gas and pump out are all available at the boatyard. If you require a valet at the end of your trip, please book it upon taking over the boat at the start of your holiday.
The boats will be conveniently located at the wharf, but breasted up. To aid access, the boats will always be facing north, i.e. towards Gayton and Norton Junction. Boatyard staff are happy to help you turn around if you intend heading south.
Please remember to hand-in your ‘end of holiday’ report before returning home and include any services (diesel, pump out etc) that you require.
There is ample car parking in the yard but ring for availability if you want to park a second car. Because the gates are locked overnight, please advise the boatyard if you intend to arrive late, or are delayed. They are happy to make arrangements for latecomers if notified in advance. The yard gate is secured with a combination padlock and you will need to obtain the current code. Please leave your car keys with a member of staff just in case it needs to be moved.
